WeCookiers Express, #0042 So it finally happened + a gift!
December 03, 2024

Yep, after 3 1/2 years...

…I actually missed publishing last month’s periodical! I’ve beat myself up over it and I’m sorry. There were opportunities to take as well as being torn 100 different ways. But, hey, I’m back on track!

Heads up:

You can be expecting a few changes going on at WeCookiers.com. The main one will be changing my Shop Gotta-havs to a universal PayPal checkout experience. I went through Ecwid for my online shop, but they suddenly went through the roof on pricing, seriously outrageous! Expect the change within 2 weeks. Thanks for your patience!

Now, for the fun part:

I’ve included a free download for you near the bottom. A little something that will come in handy, especially for Christmas!

Latest in Shop Gotta-havs!

This isn’t about cookies, but it makes for a super gift! I'm also a 39-year calligrapher so I had fun with this. I'm pretty proud of them.

You have me curious. Let me see it!

By the way, many thanks for your support of Shop Gotta-havs. This has enabled me to continue adding free content, videos, and periodicals. I appreciate you!

Business Sense: marketing yourself

1. Some communities have a Parade of Lights in a park. By different local business donating and/or setting up a Christmas light display in the park with a sign by it saying who donated it for the event. This is a great way to spread your word!

2. Most communities have food pantries/boxes. These were first intended for poor people. Life has changed so much with inflation. Now, many people frequent them. Consider making some extra cookies (heat sealed and labeled with your business name). Though you are giving out of the goodness of your heart, it still helps to spread your word.

3. Put on a holiday gala cookie party for specifically for gingerbread house making. Charge accordingly for this one as candy itself can be quite expensive.

Business Tips

1. If you have not tried the royal icing scraping technique…do it! It involves using a soft toothpaste consistency. Just place a stencil on top of the cookie, and scrape away! Note: use a thin flexible plastic to scrape.

2. If you freeze leftover royal icing and it won’t hold its shape for flowers, just add more meringue powder. Works like you just made a fresh batch!

3. I recently splurged on a die-cutter/embosser from Amazon. I got a medium sized manual one. I love making my own parchment squares with embossed prints for my royal icing cookies. Magnifico!
