Baseball theme cookies are some of the easiest sugar cookies to decorate. Usually, they are white with only 2 or 3 colors.

Your Questions, My Answer

Q: My edible ink cartridges have only been used once. I didn’t use the machine for a while. After cleaning the printhead and topping up the 'ink', one of my cartridges won’t print. What can I do?

A: I have had this situation occur twice (within about 1 ½ years of each other).

I took the problem cartridge/s out, turned them upside down on a foam plate for protection, so you see the felt. I used an eyedropper and slowly squirted its respective edible color on the felt.

I let it set for a few minutes, then placed it back in the copier. It worked for me both times. For a bunch more questions and answers on edible copiers, visit my page here:

I’ve had some extra western cookies leftover in the freezer and needed to get them used up. Here are a couple I came up with:

To keep up with baseball theme cookies, I decorated a baseball cookie platter. This was purchased through Semi Sweet Designs on Etsy.

As I mentioned above, I've added 6 pages (as a set or individually) of royal icing baby templates. If you didn't see it my new huge silicone mat for making needlepoint cookies, you can see it as well.

I also added a set of 8 nested round cookie cutters. They are scalloped on one side and flat edge on the other. Super quality. It's like 16 cutters for the price of 8!

Business Sense: marketing yourself

1. If you have a child, you probably (being a cookier), will be making a special cookie or two for their back to school lunch. Be sure to add an extra one for their teacher with your label.

2. You don't need a holiday to gift cookies. I'm very often paying a visit to neighbors with cookie surprises. I do it because I'm just a giver.

However, early on, it was to promote what I did. Now I am blessed with most of my block, front and back, who have become my customers. God is so good !

3. How about talking with a local shop, like sewing shop, bakery supply place, etc. It doesn't have to complement your cookies necessarily. Ask them if they would mind you setting up a little shelf with your cookies for giving them a commission. I've heard see-thru bags of mini cookies sell like hot-cakes!

Business Tips

1. If I find I have doubles on cookie cutters, I wait before I get rid of it. I turn it round and round. I’ll put it aside for a while to see if I can make it into a flip. If so, I’ll label it, make a sketch or not and ‘file’ it away in the proper place. This way I have it where ever I need it.

2. As a cookie business, you WILL get to the point of staying busy. When we stay busy, it is easy to be overwhelmed. Recently, I cleaned out my large closet of sprinkles, edible confetti, fondant, you name it, I have it, lol.

I try to stay organized but you know how it goes! I sorted and cleaned. Afterwards, and still, I feel refreshed and ready to take on the world. Funny how you don't realize things can weigh you down and make you feel unmotivated.

3. Just a reminder...Here we are at August. Yes, it's summer, but we'll be hit so fast with the holiday season before you know it.

Do you realize we only have 8 weeks until it starts?! October 1st. WOW! Start making decisions on what you will be offering when you get some quiet time.
