Fall cookie class

We are falling into autumn. Yay!

I have to be honest I haven’t given a cookie class since just before the demise of Covid. My schedule has been so full. But I love them. So, I decided to not take on as many local custom orders. I have my first fall cookie class on September 7th.

I thought I would go ahead and write a page on WeCookiers.com to help you if you have never had one and want to learn more. I’ve included photos as I’m preparing for the upcoming class. I actually call mine ‘cookie class parties’. I want them to have a blast, not just learning.

This periodical will be centered mostly around the cookie class theme.

Your Questions, My Answer

Q: What equipment is helpful for a cookie class?

A: The best advice I can give that will take hassle and expense away is a thermal laminator, thermal label printer, and a document writer.

When I say ‘take expense away’, I mean for all of the classes you’ll have going forward.

You will not need everything for your first class. For me, I like teaching live in front of them, which is achieved with the document writer plugging straight into a tv via HDMI cable. But you don’t have to. Some cookiers prefer to have a prerecorded video. It's your show, your decision!

Cookie Cutter Flips

Here are 3 cookie cutter flips I created. I especially like the standing Santa with his toy bag being turned into a floral beehive!

-Santa head to a beehive with florals

-candy can to closed umbrella

-spider web to open umbrella

Sorry, if you have an email with just HTML, you cannot see the photos.

I've recently added a 15 pc paintbrush set to the shop. These brushes come in an array of types and sizes...though all are small brushes specifically for cookie decorating. Check them out!

As always, let me know if you have any questions. Here's the link straight to them (tap on photo or link below):

Business Sense: marketing yourself

1. Make one day a week (or bi-monthly) that you deliver for free. Perhaps make this only to repeat customers. You could also do something like ‘every 3rd or 5th order is free delivery’. I would only offer this as long as long as it takes to get your business flying though.

2. There is always something to celebrate. If it’s friendship week, then tell your customers if they bring a friend, they will receive a free cookie or % off of an order.

3. Put on a ‘Just Like Grandma’s’ event. Have the locals come together with a baked good item of their grandma’s recipe. Couple it with a ‘Meet and Greet’ gathering. Get to know the public and taste one another’s goodies. For each entrant, have them bring a photograph of grandma. This will place a deep connection with you because you brought out their emotion. It’ll be a memorable day for them! Do you think they would forget you? Not a chance!

Remember to place all your contact info with your logo around. Also, blast Facebook with it and let your local newspaper/s know!

Business Tips

1. I finally found the idea place to rent for my cookie class parties. It’s our local senior citizen building. It’s great that it has a commercial kitchen and a wide-open area with all the tables and chairs. If you are looking for a place, check out your local senior citizen building.

2. You do not need expensive rubber pads to place under and on your cookie turntable. Use the thin cheap rubber shelf liner at the dollar store. Just cut it to size.

3. For reference, using WeCookier’s sugar cookie recipe and royal icing:

-1 batch of dough makes 24-26, 3” cookies

-1 single batch of royal icing covers 36 (3 dz) cookies

-usually, 1 oz is used to cover 1, 3” cookie

Pepper's Poem

I love adding Pepper's works. This is one of my favorites. Thought it especially fitting for going into autumn.
